My Camera Editorial Advisory Board comment published on Sept. 6, 2008 under the subtitle, “After the spectacles”:

I admit I enjoyed the one-liners offered at the Democratic and Republican national conventions and that the speeches and hoopla energized the campaigns. Now the conventions are over, however, I hope to get more substance as to what the candidates plan for our country.

Also, I expect to hear the candidates’ views in their speeches and advertisements. I’ve had enough with attack ads. They don’t help. And, enough with hoping Americans will go in droves to the candidates’ Web sites. While that may be helpful for me and others with a high-speed connection to the Web, a significant number of older people still are not there. I urge the candidates to say what’s important in venues for all ears.
